Although, to point out a perhaps overlooked good side of anakin's suggestion, having shopkeepers on the main continent pay more for goods from overseas (and vice versa) wouldn't adversely hurt the play experience... would still, of course, expand the ways of getting money quickly/easily, but that ca...

Easy solution: don't get a lion's muzzle... protecting yourself against poisoned food isn't really that great of a skill...

As Slart said, we only support save vs. spell. If you need a save vs. your mom, I recommend finding new hiding places around the house, or in town. I believe the library is usually a good bet because they have public computers and then your mom would believe you were studying.

I think anything that gives me a little perk for being over 800 without a negative side's a great idea.

I don't see any real problems in what you've said except one thing you may've overlooked: that reassociating these areas into different continents would be a massive overhaul of the area organization as a whole. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but we have to look at the disadvantages as wel...

Well we could just let you see your exact hours played, but what fun would that be? You'd just have a stat, instead of something that (might) affect roleplaying - a character age.

Consider it an added privilege you get as an avatar, that people can't keep track of when you've been playing.

As I recall, stats get capped out on the low end at 3, no matter how much negative affects you get hitting you. (Try poison, chill touch, plague, etc. against your strength sometime, as well.)

The idea of the speak command (foreign languages) has been raised before (specifically as racial languages) and has always been turned down, as we specifically want to not segregate people in any way. Speaking a separate language is quite easily the best way to segregate people around, so, although ...

Ranged Weapons

A topic from the old boards (one that I suggested) that I hoped would help to expand options in combat. Basically, we have no real options for ranged combat on BR (bows, namely). We can use the throw command, but that gives us one hit before the mob's in the room, and that not particularly damaging....

Continents

Another repost from the old boards, this involved (builder-side) working a new continent into the realms. Specifics debated included: How to get to the continent: walkable, have to "take a boat" (a mob spec, essentially), using word of recall (to give it a use as well as limit levels that could get ...

I think to go backwards, it's: (Hours played / 4) + 17 = Mud Age Instead of adding 17 to the hours played before dividing. Any case, your actual hours played can be anywhere up to 3.9 hours above your current mud year before it flips over, so there's some error involved. As to Rad's specific questio...

In no particular response order: definitely on the text representation - it would very much add to the feeling of playing the character, adding to the enjoyment. Agreed on skill percentages working in somehow (no real ideas as to how to do so). Balance (in all the styles) is important - I generally ...

For my earlier, rather dismissive tone, I apologize, but I still disagree that humans as a whole should get a backstab skill - most martial arts did not involve assassination as a means in their teachings. I agree with Faustus' sentiments - our races are more like a class (with many options) than a ...

I could see this working, but it would require a complete overhaul of all the current skills/spells as well as substantial modifications to the code affecting each race. Originally, this was why the multi-classing options were built in (the out of guild philosophy) - you could play your dwarf as a f...
