Check out those numbers...YOWZA. Here's one way to think about the last four years of your life, folks: Bush won Florida, and thus the election by 537 [/i] votes. For reference, Socialist Worker's Party Candidate James Harris received 562 votes in Florida. Al Gore received 543,895 more votes than Bu...

George Bush received fewer votes in the 2000 election than Al Gore. It was the distribution of those votes, not popular sentiment, that won him the election. It remains to be seen where people stand now, four years later.

I understand the difference between formal and informal writing, and I don't generally get in people's faces about spelling and/or grammar errors unless I feel like it might help save them future embarrassment in a more important setting. That said, I don't understand the indignation with which peop...

I don't get it.
One of the ships died.

I hope this clears up any confusion as well as killing any remaining humor that might have been left in the joke. I'm here to help.

I know there is speco ability to fire an event merely by giving an item to someone (speco fired for receiving or giving on the receiver and/or giver) but it's not easily customizable and it doesn't seem like it could handle a SET of objects. Other things could be very simple: 1) cast a spell on a m...

I'm not sure I qualify as a power that, um, be, but I can tell you I did finally unearth the email, and will be making it top priority next week. I can't say it'll be checked in next week -- it'll depend how testing goes -- but it's my top priority right now. Yes, ahead of the big fun thing that Kir...

PuTTY is my tool of choice for several uses, and I will attest readily that it is superior to ewan in all important respects.

You should definitely use it instead.

My opinion on output filters like that is that they are nothing but smirky little neener-neener jobs that aren't good for anything but encouraging people to engage in precisely the kind of behavior that they're intended to prevent. This is true even on the radio...how many times do you hear "other" ...

I voted for strength, as it's IMO more important than the others for mortal characters. A much greater percentage of a level 50 char's HP and mana come from enhancing than is true for an avatar4, lessening the benefit of con/int/mana -- an extra three HP times 35 levels is significant, but hardly a ...

I think the idea here is that as former avatars, demons can reasonably be expected to literally canvass the ENTIRE REALMS for these areas. That's right, every single room in every single area. You're probably thinking, "That's easy for him to say; he knows where they all are." The problem with that ...

I drive a Camaro. The premiums on it were fearsome when it was new and I was young, but now that we both are old they are piddling. Being old works wonders for your insurance premiums.

The thing that makes me feel old is:

You can't get a new Camaro because they don't make them anymore.

Two top ten lists

I don't know where else to put this request to make sure everyone gets it, but here it is. I'm requesting that you, the builders (and you know who you are) put your heads together and compile two top ten lists: the top ten new area support features desired, in order of importance, one considering di...

Muds -- or any other form of game -- which allow a choice of race and class invariably end up with a best race for each class. We just cut out the middle man. Adding races back in so we can have dwarven warrior, elven mage, druid priest, kender thief, illithid psionicist just seems kinda redundant t...
