Denver pic story

Post by Java »

It's been a while

Background: I left my job at Dell back in December through a voluntary separation package and have been job hunting for a while. I almost landed a dream job in Princeton, NJ, but it ended up not working out. I nabbed this new job in Denver at the beginning of May, but haven't moved or started officially yet. My start date is a moving target because I have to get my house ready for sale here and I'm glad my new bosses are flexible. So I had to make a second trip to Denver this past week for some apartment hunting and a training session (they brought in consultants, not an in-house thing).

I actually had roofers, landscapers, tree trimmers, painters, handyman, kitchen cabinet refinishers all at my house up until I left for the airport. Actually, the roofers were still there when I left.

Anyways, I had to make a stop at Best Buy before the airport. Picked up a new (cheap) TomTom GPS, since my nice one got stolen out of my car last year.

Kinda blurry, but the billboard advertises Mighty Fine Burgers, yummy, and owned by Rudy's BBQ.

The weather in Denver was pretty crappy the whole week, which was unusual, according to the locals. To get my rental car, I had to take a (Hertz) bus over to the rental area. The manager on duty that day was....

Got a black Impreza as a rental instead of a Corolla. It was nice enough that I would consider it for replacing my 7 year old Eclipse.

This is my future work building. The company is Emergency Medical Services Corp, which owns American Medical Response (AMR), which some of you know as the ambulance company.

These are the apartments that I ended up signing with. The whole building is 5 months old. I got a one bedroom on the first floor with a west view (mountains).

Those windows and patio in the center are my apt.

All of this was in the Denver Tech Center area.

If it wasn't raining, the sky looked like this most of the week I was there.

It still amazes me that you can take these pictures while driving, Java-Saurus. That and Tim Burton being the manager on duty. (The economy is killin' us all, ya'll) Hey---remember when you went to the store and took pictures? I still giggle from time to time thinking about that first story when I'm going into a super market.

How fun life sometimes is.
