The rules that... whoever (sorry short term memory is a bit shot) wrote sound pretty fair. Hope it can be coded. The flame armor spell sounds too good to be true. A little to powerful if you ask me. I don't care if I'm 27th level forever, it's the challenge that makes it for me. A few new attack spells would be nice. No real suggestions, but fireball, lightning bolt, acid blast, shocking grasp and colour spray are all I have for my arsenal. If you could power up the spell casting, and lower the attack value of elves, it would be more realistic. In D&D, mages are real wussy in hand to hand, but their spells rock. The strength and abilities of this creature depends on the lv of the caster. Afer fight the creature disappears! - A protection spell(name maybe 'mirror') , which enables the caster to 'throw back' a spell to the spells caster (like a mirror) and the spell will do the same damage to the caster that it was supposed to do to the victim. Skills from other races: A consideration about using (and getting) some skills from other races would be the following: With an amulet (or something like that) the owner is eneabled to use a skill provided by the amulet. But if he has to wear it or just has to have it, it depends on your will. If the amulet is lost, the skill isn't available anymore. Possible is also that the amulet will only be existent for an certain time, the it will fade away! Another suggestion is that a player must join a 'house' of a certain color. He/she can't change that house, but every house has trainers and adepts that can train certian skills even to other races. The player belongs to this house for his whole life and can't be joined to more than one. A "drunk" skill - Tolerance to alcohol? Realistic perhaps, but we must remember that drunkeness was instituted as a way of recovering mana more quickly, hence the penalty of garbbled speech. If you were able to take your liquor better, by the time an elf or druid got to level 40, there would hardly be a penalty, when mana is needed even more. A "mirror" spell/ring of spell turning - I kinda like this idea. Make the chances of success rather slim at the begining of course... in order to get their skill up to an adequate level a poor druid would have to take several hundred blasts to the head before they get good at reflecting back punishment, but imagine the potential at higher levels... Also, on a similar note, I rather like the idea of a "flame shield" or whatever, that gives back have the damage taken... seen it in D&D. This would affect physical attacks only, spells would still do full damage. It gives the spell casters a unique form of protection, closely related to their nature. More aliases - I've wanted this for a long time now, niff said ;P Phoenix had a good point... gain more aliases as you rise in levels. Help news file - If it can't be updated frequently, at least take out all the time-related items. Message of the day seem sto have become message of the year. Build skill - I REALLY like this idea. Although instead of armor, I would lean more toward a weaponcrafting skill. This plays into what I've often talked about; that is, let mortals become more involved/immeresed in the environment. I myself would love to have a small shop that produces quality swords... people could become well known throughout the realms for the goods they produce. It doesn't have to be limited to weapons or armor. Of course this SHOULD be a skill, and take practice to gain quality. Perhaps not only make quality dependant on how often the skill is used, but also base it on time... a person that has been making swords for many (MUD)years could still produce a better blade than someone that's been working day and night at it for a week... That's about it for now, -Dryden @>-------------------------[Lyte]------------------------------------- Lyte: I think Pets, hired mobs; and charmed mobs should be able to autoassist and autosplit. There it was nice because mages were relatively weak and fireshield made it a good match for things. Here at BR, I don't think this spell is necessary, it will make them too powerful. However, a modification is doable. Consider this, make it a set amount of damage determined by level, but to a small degree that it wouldn't over-influence the course of a fight. THAT might be nice to see. Temper Tantrum] @>----------------------[Kiri]------------------------------------ I love these comments. Keep them coming! #5 Kiri, First off thanks for the newsletters, I think its great! Now I want to put in my little speech about room's for mortals. I think this could be a great idea! But I think there should be some rules. I think a room should only be made for a mortal when the player hits level 25. Kind of like a half way to hero reward. Then the player should have the option to "buy" a room from a character like a carpenter or a landlord. The room should be about 500,000 coins or so. I think this is fair, and others would probably agree. One thing that you could add is that you could set your recall to return you to your room, or the temple. We could have a sign on the door that others could read, and we could tell the sign what to say, like. . . Welcome To Strikehammer's Room! Strikehammer will be back at 23:00 system time. Maybe we could even have another sign that would give the description of the character. Pretty much what the "Des" command will do, but it doesn't work for other players. Other cool things... You should be able to keep excess items in your room that would normally bog you down. Obviously their would have to be a limit to how many items a person could have in there room. Perhaps something like, an item for every level your on. (ie A level 25 player would get to keep 25 items in there room.) Also, maybe you could display plaques on the wall in your room, that would show your player of the week honors, and such... I have a friend on another MUD where they have "houses" and their's were 3 million to buy plus 5000 a day. I don't really care for this, I think it should be a onetime purchase Well, I think I have a couple more ideas up in the ol cobwebs, but I've rambled long enough... Happy Realming, Strikehammer I have a new skill for humans right here, we kinda feel left out... :) I mean, We're supposed to be Martial Artists.. right? we should have an insta-death attack... even if it is a spell. Dragon Punch Syntax: dragon (mob) or Syntax: c dragon (mob) This is one of the deadliest attacks from the Martial Artist. The martial artist may start a battle by delivering a devestating punch to the temple of the victim. Similar to backstab and dive there is a slight chance the blow may completely bash the enemies head in and kill it instantly. If this is a spell it would probably cost about 20-50 mana. Probably about level 20 or so. Just my suggestion. I have some suggestion here. Lemme explain :).. First is about showing exist exit that being closed like "[Exits: north (C)south down]" at Entrance to BR high school. Since a lot of people set "config +brief", they'll never know that there're some doors at the place they passed. Esp. lag people, they must always close this room description. How about this? :) Second one, I think this'll be a hard work for coder but it'll be useful. How about showing "aggro flag" when mortal die? I mean when mortals die, there'll be a message to every hero as ">>>HEY!! xxxxxx killed by xxxxx at NNNN " or so. I think there should be a flag such as "(aggro)". If there's this flag, hero'll make decission easier that they should give CR or not. And the last, I don't know that this was mentioned yet or not. It's about when you go out from grocery in Macthar and go North and East. You'll be at somewhere else that not match the city map. You'll be at west of weapon shop. I think this really make someone confuse esp. when they want to set alias for walking pass this area. That's all. Hope these are good suggestions :) Tata Fuzzman: Someone mentioned a roulette wheel at one time, What's the word on that Quiver: I think Kender should have a higher level healing spell. Not to put down cure serious or anything, but it's kinda lame when you're taking 50-100 points of damage with each hit... Something like acupuncture which would cure 100 points of damage. Silverfox: When a person is sleeping, tells directed to them should appear in their dreams. Something like this could be displayed: Silverfox enters your dreams and tells you 'blah blah blah'... I'm suggesting this cuz 'He/She can't hear you.' is quite an annoying message, especially when you've just written a novel to the person :) Midnight: Avians should be able to have the cure critical spell Any ideas? comments? Kiri #6 Kiri and all, Here are a few responses. Mortal rooms - I've always thought the idea rather interesting, but also, I agree that it takes away from the imm privilage. Your own place is something you work hard for, and hold more value than any amount of gold can buy. If you want to get more involved and personal as a mortal, I'd like to remind everyone of my shops for mortals idea. t gets you involved, and gives back to the MUD as well. Human skills - Whatever they may be, any and all human skill should be considered, I think, as the need some sort of (small) boost... a little rounding out. An instant deat attack isn't that bad of an idea, except the Kender out there have a point, and I wouldn't want to dilute the otehr races. We need more ORIGINAL skills and spells. Spells should be kept to a minimum for humans... they already have many out of guild options and several cool attacks. What they lack are "utility" or general purpose spells. How about spirit animal, as I've suggested before... or anything else... I'll devote some time to looking into Humans more closely. Healing for warriors - Get real. Druids make groups cool, and if you have to or prefer to go it alone, Clericus always seemed reasonable to me... now he has TONS of spells. Go to Clericus. Gambling - Roulettes? Cool... how about horse (or griffin, or dragon) races? Betting on arena matches? Holding Olympic style events in the arena? I know we have some cool coders out there... what do y'all think? :) Dryden > Gawain: why not get rid of turds? they are gross, you can't sac them, and > they just add unneeded overhead Gotta agree.. They are real pointless.. and exactly what kinda style are we adding by having Turds? > The big deal about kender was that they were the only ones with a REALLY > damaging, maybe-fatal, initial attack...then Avians got dive...I'm usually all > for new skills, but copying old ones to more and more races just takes > away from the races that used to be the only ones with them. Amen > closed door flag?? I'm not against it, but I do think it's kinda > wimpy...in all my mortal days, I NEVER used brief... Gotta agree with what Oakley and Matrix have said so far. If you really absolutely must find every door and just can't read the long descriptions, make an alias to look for you. -Phoenix how 'bout having a spec_random_ affect bit type would be something like invis. which would mean that the mob would randomly switch between being invisible and visible, sorta like blink dogs in D&D. the only affect bits that i see that would be worthwhile would be: invis --> described above protect --> have the cityguards go off duty sneak, hide --> pc's don't use it all the time so why should mobs? other ones would be repop set only..ie spec_setpop_ these prolly requiring special code (only downfall i see). the mobs only get set with these when they pop, and keep it until killed. blind --> there's blind ppl in the world, why not in the realms? fly --> cool for mobs that have wings.. they could be on the ground or in the air.. more realistic. sanc --> cool for magical types (ie spec_cast_mage, spec_cast_) sleep --> should be self explanitory detect_ --> see sanc curse,faerie_fire,infrared,poison,charm,pass_door,plague --> can't think of any good reason for these. any ideas? whatcha think? crymson http://www.tmn.com/Community/travisr/barren.html > I have some suggestion here. I will be using a new format, thanks to some help from Scavenger, Barren's Guardian angel. Thanks Scav. :) @>--------------------------[Superman]----------------------------------- It seems lately, everyone's been talking about new skills, spells, etc. Ways to make the game more fun, but at the same time, it seems to take the challenge out of the game. If I had the time, I'll be the first to say that I'd start a new character and do it all over again. Playing the game as a mortal is so much fun Because of the challenge. So..... perhaps we should make hero a higher level. Yes, I know that this will be under a lot of criticism but I think it should be considered. perhaps at the same time, we could lower the amount needed to level each level - not so much as to make the game easy, but to keep it a bit tougher and harder. When you're playing the game, I'm sure you wished you could beat it already.. but when you do, you want to do it all over again... just maybe not at the beginning =) An instant death-attack for humans? I don't think so.. When I was grouped with humans, it sure seemed that they already have enough attacks. all those built-in automatic attacks like 5 palm or whatever, AND they also have roundhouse, trip, etc. Not even out of guild. Things weren't so easy for me, everything I had was out of guild and I remember level 45 and up, I needed close to 5 million to level from the start. BUT I still made it, did I not? It adds to the challenge. Another I want to say is about the money system on the mud. I'm suring changing it wouldn't be too hard. Just give it another name rather than "coin". Use some type of currency. People have disagreed, but how about foreign currency in different parts of the Mud? Mortal Rooms? They have the whole realms..... Superman @>-------------------------------[Riel]------------------------------------ Doors which, when opened, change the text of a room. For example, the room text might change from " you are in a dark room, which smells of vomit and putrescence", but when the door is open, the text changes to be: "the darkness of the room is pierced by the bright sun outside, and a fresh breeze wafts the scent of flowers your way. Outside you see a meadow and some small rabbits." Or, if not change the text, simply add description to it, of what you see through the door. Mobs which wander the land, randomly teleporting from character to character, or area to area, such as a mystical druid, or a knight on a quest. When such mobs are interacted with (IE given an item) they will respond with a brief tell to the character, and possibly award them things such as sanctuary spells, or healing. Practicing skills such as Wands, Scrolls, ect. to help make such items harder for characters to use at lower levels. Language skills, which would prevent characters from going into some areas. IE. going to Dwarven Daycare would be "common", but Dwarven Mountain might be a "language-dwarven" area, meaning that a character who had not lerned Dwarven would only see gibberish in the mob desc, or room desc. If a character is grouped with someone who knows Dwarven, they could "translate" for them...making it possible for only one char. in the group to prac the language, and all could read the descriptions. Characters would begin with 2 languages, (racial) and common, and possibly the drunk code could be modified to allow fora partial understanding of the area, if you have a 50% dwarven FE, then you only get a partially garbled room desc. "University" where a character could possible spend experience points to learn skills not normally available to them. IE a druid could learn Backstab, but it would cost XXXxp and XXX gold, like enhance. Illusion spells, where one character might be able to disguise himself as, say, a Red dragon. Instead of " Kiri leaves South", you would see " A Red Dragon Leaves South", or even illusion the charmed pet/mob "Kiri's pet Red dragon" when higher level characters would see, "Kiri's Red Dragon (puppy)". Riel @>-------------------------------[Matrix]-------------------------------- IN> Another batch of suggestions. IN> IN> bodyslam for humans IN> make poison for kenders IN> herbs for druids - find herbs to heal with. IN> blacksmithing for dwarves IN> enchant armor for elves IN> telepathy for illithids - lets them talk in their sleep. IN> IN> -salome I have one comment on this...make poison should be for druids....since kender have taint, if you give make poison to kender, it just saves them a walk...if you give it to druids however (druids are our herbalist/apothicary type chars, no?) it will promote co-operation between characters. :) Matrix @>------------------------[Riel]----------------------------------------- SAMURAI Req: Wisdom, strength The samurai would be another fighter type, crossed with the Illithid, using CHI as the mental power of the Samurai character. Some abilities they might receive which are specific to their class might be "focus"- (Pre-combat) allows the samurai to focus a double strike in the first round of combat. (costs mana/chi) "seppuku"- if the character knows they are about to die, they can seppuku honorably, and only lose 1/2 the xp loss of the death. "challenge"- The samurai, upon entering a room with more than one monster, may challenge one specific monster to a duel, in which no other mobs can assist, and in which the Samurai may not be grouped nor may anyone otherwise get involved. "meditate"- if the character meditates instead of sleeping, they receive 1/2 the normal recuperation of hp, but double the amount of mana. Well, these are a few baubles from the infinite variety of my brain. Until next time, may Nyarlathotep always come to you in your sleep, and may your sanity never go below 5. Riel @>--------------------------[Charon]----------------------------------- > 2. I mentioned a "Protect" skill or command, here's how i perceive it > working. Protect would allow a stronger char to protect weaker > characters, Ipse's a 32nd level dwarf (fighter) I would type "Protect > {weaker char)" then as we retrieve the char's corpse, or go about mudding. > If the char get attacked I attack. That's a good idea! Especially for the weaker characters! I support this option of Ipse! And to see how strong an opponent is would inform you more than "is in awful condition" etc., because you can decide if you fled whether to come back and kill it or not. A good thing also would be a spell like 'locate object' but one which works on mobs like 'locate person' so that you can locate and get them. Charon @>------------------------------[Kiri]------------------------------- Well..how do you like this new format? send comments and ideas and gunk my way, thanks..Kiri #7 @>-----------------------------[Dryden]------------------------------------- I like Matrix's switches idea. Would add some more variety for the area builders out there... with levers that do something, it would be possible to set up puzzles spanning entire areas. A lever in one part would open a few gates, but not all.. another would open more gates, but close some of the open ones as well. Of course this requires ingenuity on the builder's part, as well as the initial coding, but, like I said, I like the idea. I also think Riel's university idea has some merit. I suggested a similar idea, going down a slightly different path, but nevertheless, an institution of higher learing would be cool. I don't think, however, that all skills should be learnable by anyone. So called "class-defining" skills, such as a Kender's backstab could not be learned... nor powerful magic spells by warrior types. After all, this is a place of learning that teaches much, but would specialize in none... IMO, anyway. Meditate for humans sounds good... also a good skill for elves, and perhaps druids. Here's some bard stuff... Jaen and Kor were knights of war, their deeds were full of might. The maidens moaned, And young men groaned beholding their awesome sight. One bright day Jaen said to Kor, Look here my friend, and doubt no more. We'll fight, ne'er flee, So strong are we The Realms cannot contain us. Kor agreed, and one dim night, Their steeds in flight beneath them; They sought to take that awsome prize, So bright a gleam in many eyes, Eternal life... eternal life - It called them. Heeding not the sleeping gods, Slumbering like fallen logs; Jaen led Kor across the Realms, Eyes aglow beneath steel helms. To steal like naughty children. They sought that fabled grail of yore, The one their aching hearts yearned for. Sought to take it and not abide As close they drew with gallant stride, To where they heard it had been. But in their way, To their dismay, Stood [random immortal] frowning broadly. And though they tried To explain their side, Their quest would end abruptly. So seek ye not what isn't yours, You'll only end in bumps and sores. Bide thy time and do ye right, And in the end thy awesome might Will shine all the more bghtly. (What do you think? An original composition of Dryden ;P) A few short ones from "The Fires of Heaven" by Robert Jordan... "We'll drin the wine till the cup is dry, and kiss the girls so they'll not cry and toss the dice until we fly to dance with Jak o' the Shadows." "We'll dance all night while the moon runs free, and dandle the lasses upon our knee and then you'll ride along with me to dance with Jak o' the Shadows." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Tinker in the kitchen, with a job of work to do. Mistress up above, slipping on a robe of blue. She dances down the staircase, her fancy all so free, crying, Tinker, oh, dear Tinker, won't you mend a pot for me?" (Hehe... ;P) That's about it. The little poem I wrote and these laste few excerpts were submitted to be used by the bard, if he goes in... More to come, as always... -Dryden @>-------------------------------[Salome]------------------------- If you just want a necromancer race ignore most of the skills. SPELLS Summon Shadow - Would work like Gate. Obviously a high lvl spell. Chill touch Vampiric Touch - Transfers hitpoints from the victim to the caster. Contagion - Plague + Weaken Enervation - Energy Drain Animate Dead - Turns corpses into a charmed servant. Magic Jar - Would store hitpoints in a crystal for later. Finger of Death - Instant kill, Could be lowered to Cause Critical Cure light Aid - Bless Poison Cure Poison Blindness Cure Blindness Invisibility / Blend into Shadow - Invis/Hide Detect Invisibility / Night Vision - Detect invis/ Detect hidden Cure Disease Regenerate - Fast Healing Ressurection - Ressurect Dead pets? Other spells could be added from what BR already has. SKILLS -If we go with Lizard race Infravision Second lid/inner lid - protection from blindness Shed Skin - variation of tan? Mezmerize - Glare, Charm, etc. Whip tail - tailsweep Claw Swipe - five style fist Hibernation - Possibility for faster mana regeneration. It would cause a trance like state like the vampire had after feed. Spellcraft - Increase the damage caused by spells. These are just some ideas. I can see why you would want to keep the races indivigual, so how about this: only code amulets that have abitlties that arn't the defining abilities of a race. That way, people can still have the secondary abilities. And, you could make it so that these amulets are VERY rare, and thus would be a really special item. Cord. #10 @>-------------------------[Salome]--------------------------------- Salome has an idea for a new race here... Group members would also be able to pass through. Mirror Image creates 1-3 copies of the caster. They serve as decoys and aggro mobs would react to them as they would to the player. However they shatter when struck. Confusion can cause the creature to cease attacking, neutralize agression, or cause the mob to flee. Camouflage is fairly self-explanator. It would be outdoor only. Acute Vision is basically see camouflage. Herbs is the finding of healing herbs, outdoors only. It would be equivalent to cure serious. Hamstring is also basically self-explanatory. Brownies being very short, they'd have a chance to cut the hamstring of the mob effectively crippling it with web-like results. @}---,---'--- SALOME =={=========> @>----------------------[Many of you!]------------------------------------- > Hello everyone, this is a quest for ONLY people who receive the newsletter. > I will reward anyone who answer me each of these questions: > > 1. What would you like to name the guardian of Calathar? Gilgamesh > 2. Would you like to get rid of steaming turds? Absolutely > 3. How would a dream channel work? Activates only when asleep and is the only channel active, except for group tell. Maybe affect by intelligence and/or wisdom: noises may wake you up because of the dream they cause, but the chance of this drops as int and/or wis increase. While asleep hear chats and says erratically. While asleep you "see" visions. (This could start as a database, which you add to and change regularly). The visons are minor but increase with drunkenness and cancause you to wake. Uhhh I think thats more than you asked for. Sorry > 4. what do YOU suggest as a new idea for BR? As an area? "Your University" have administrators, and all kinds of teachers, stats, anthropology. The administrators could be thieves. -Ipse 1. Name the guardian THE ETERNAL (from the SEGA game Eternal Champions). 2. No, don't get rid of steaming turds. It's a sign that a battle has taken place there recently. 3. The dream channel allows you to see what your chat message, or allows chatting to only those asleep. 4. A new idea... how about new transportation devices. Like motorcycles, or jet powered backpack. -who sent me this? 1 I would like to name the guardian zammechat. This word comes from the nasdat language invented by author Anthony Burgess for his novel A Clockwork Orange which is also my favorite movie. The word zammechat means remarkable. 2. I would like to see steaming turds removed by mobs which appear anywhere in the game where there are steaming turds called swarm of flys. The swarm could vary in level and would be non aggressive except to the steaming turds. The swarm would remain for several ticks then vanish while it was there players could kill the flys. Perhaps we could even set up a counter in the info section specifically to count the number of swarms killed and awards could be given to players who had killed extrodinarily large numbers of swarms. 3. I think that a dream channel would be set up so that it was always off while you were awake but when you went to sleep it could be off or on and if you were sleeping you could type dream ......... and everyone else who was sleeping might see your dream. Or maybe people could dream stuff and it would be stored in a bank of dreams and then others would have those dreams later. 4. I have heard that we are trying to keep the realms medival, so I decided not to code for a clockwork orange type area. But I think that some of the other areas are decidedly not medival so my idea would be to branch the realms out a little more. Sorry I said code when I meant build.:+} My other idea would be sort of a BR registration drive. Profile is a command that a lot of mortals don't even know about. Maybe the immortals should try to get everyone to fill out that info/profile section. Finally I think that people should stop being mean to Kiri she seems nice =+) >--------------------------< DELTON >--------------------------------< 1. I think that the guadian's name should be "Helm", he was/is the god of guardians in the Forgotten Realms. (AN AD&D game campain) It's fitting because the Calathar Guardian is nearly impossible for "normal" charactors to defeat. 2. I think that the turds should go. or stay with some refinment: -Make them edible. (Yuck.) They could surve as last minute food for starving players... but there should be a message regaurding the poop-eaters smell. -Make them Sacraficeable. Although no faithfull mortal would consider giving the gift of POOP to their gods, some might. The gods would NOT give any mana, hit points, gold, or movment points to the player, but it would get rid of them. (And maybe show the Powers (Gods) that the player is unhappy with the way reality is. ??? -Have animal mobs or pets automaticly eat it. (My neihbor's dog ate poop all the time.) -Have them be gettable items that can be used as missle weapons for the 'throw' skill. They would do no dammage, but the mob or player who gets hit might get a SMELL flag like the poop-eater one listed under my first option. 3. DREAM (MESSAGE) <--- Obviously. =) The dream chanel could be used in one of two ways: -A channel that only sleeping players see and only they can talk over it. -A channel used by IMMS on quests to give insight into where the players should go or have overlooked. 4. I have some suggestions too: -Kender should get an invisibility type ability to reflect superior hiding talent. -Make the Vampire race!!!! I'd love that and Id be willing to help if no one there wants to bother. I play VAMPIRE, and they just plain rock. -Make pstealing and pkilling legal. That way if I murder someone great. then all the higher lvl PLAYERS (no imms or heros, unless the murderer was an imm or hero) can kill me for fun and EXP. Kender's cannot steal in the current rules, but an Elf could charm a stealing mob, make it invisible, and put it in recall to steal from people, then that same elf can come back and kill it later and make a bundal. -Look at the INDIVIDUAL EXP chart for AD&D.(one of you guys has to play AD&D) Kender should get exp for the GP value of stuff they steal, as should a wizard who uses spells rather than letting the Dwarf tank while the elf patheticly attempts to fight. -I have a million others, I've been thrown out of some reall great MUDS, each one had something I liked, but alot I didn't. I like this one te best so far, but it could be better. -one last idea, have the gods take a less active (or at least direct) for of influence on mortal life. What fun is being a 15th lvl Kender when any hero could do anything better than you. Especialy wen you piss off the Player Charactor of someone who also has a HERO, so then they get their hero to beat you up or to threaten you into submission. or at least get some Truly EVIL gods to counter the newbie loving good ones. (Not that I mind you guys.) -Delton Marksberry, Lord of Shadows, God of Shadows, lies, intrige, and deception on Toril. (and hopefully soon on BR) yes, remove turds, and vomit as well.. they serve no purpose and are very annoying. my **GREAT** ==>SPIFFY<== idea: make the 'time' command work with a watch.. or have a rough estimate without one. a name for the guard? hmm...how about 'Rexor'? -starr @>-----------------------------[Fallout]------------------------------------- Well, I don't mail off campus much, but since you wont some ideas, here goes I think that steaming turds could be left, but just be able to saccrifice them, like blood trails. On the other hand, could they simply be done away with all together? I mean, they really dont add much to the enjoyment of the mud. At least the trails serve a purpose (aids in tracking the injured). I think the guardian does need a name...how about Brutus. A dream channel, huh...sounds surreal. It could be in black and white, and full of wierd stuff. I have no clue how it would work, though, and think that it probably isn't worth the effort it would take to make it happen. Finally, as a new idea for BR, how about clans. As much as i hate them, the idea of a "guild" or "clan" is very popular on muds. Each would have a patron imm and a "hero", plus at least 8 members. The purpose would be for the members to act as a club or family, helping each other, having a clan room, clan renamed eq, maybe war on other opposing clans, etc. It reminds me too much of a fraternity or sorority, but these are popular, too. These are just some ideas...not particularly good ones. Fallout @>----------------------------------[Odie]------------------------------ 1) maybe something like mike tyson. then we wouldn't mess with him. 2) no...they add to the game. 3) maybe somone steps into your dream and slaps...then tells you to wake up 4) maybe some more skills for kender...considering we have nothing....i need about 1.5 mil to level at level 30....at level 29...i needed only 1 mil. 5) for the help news we could put who has heroed lately and who has immed lately...also recent news like opus and darkhelm see ya, the snotbrain dog, Odie :) > 1. What would you like to name the guardian of Calathar? Bubba > 2. Would you like to get rid of steaming turds? YES!!!! > 3. How would a dream channel work? Sleeping characters could talk to each other. And the affects of alcohol would not jumble words while dreaming. > 4. what do YOU suggest as a new idea for BR? What about having random happy things appear in your dreams while your alseep.(ie. You see a little bunny hop across the room, or a vision of Kiri give you a balloon that says "I LOVE BARREN REALMS!" I really think that there should be some where that you could get rid of the NOREMOVE and NODROP flags. It really sucks when shieldbraker in your off hand gets disarmed. You have to die or go to the hangman. Also Dwarves making waepons and armor sounds really cool. At lower levels, the dwarf made item maybe has flags put on it. (ie. noremove, nodrop) other flags could be tried for depending on the metal used. (ie. Gold + steel= glowing, Black eog +steel =dark, clear lean + steel = invis) the possibilities are very numerous. Just a few ideas. Glon Ironfoot "Your Friendly Neighborhood Vampire Slayer!" and humble Dwarf! > 1. What would you like to name the guardian of Calathar? The UNABOMBER!!! (He is cool!) > 2. Would you like to get rid of steaming turds? They don't do anything, but they are harmless. Icky but harmless > 3. How would a dream channel work? It would allow only prople who were sleeping to talk to eachother freely or it would slowly play out a story of some sort (maybe like the help rummors) but this would have to be after sleeping for a long time. > 4. what do YOU suggest as a new idea for BR? I want a DOOM area and am willing to write it... (it is out of context totally but I don't care... :) Also, I have noticed that kenders cannot yell... This was one of thier primary abilities in the DND game. (Yell makes opponents attack and not run but lowers hit and dam rolls) Is there a way to make the area command display all the areas that are apropriate for your area rather than having to put in a range. Also when they are not displayed the formating should change.. Bad programing. :) It would be helpful to make it more clear the names of the area in which you are in so it is possible to tell when you have wandered to far... I always thought it was mean to have a secret door in the 5-10 level hobgoblen mines lead directly to a 30-50 level area... Damn litch... Personally, it doesnt bother me, but if there's a lot of mobs in 1 room, and they repop fast, it can get kinda spammy. In other words, sure, get rid of the turds.. 3. How would a dream channel work? We have enough channels, i dont think there's gonna be a lot of help having a dream channel. If we are having one, it'll be used when you're sleeping. Notice how we cant use tells when we sleep? But, once again, in my opinion, it's useless. 4. what do YOU suggest as a new idea for BR? Races, lots of new races, cut down on the skills/spells idea, we have enough of those. Maybe we can make the game a little harder? Deathtraps? 100 lvl to hero? People are heroing like crazy here. @>---------------------------[Xena]------------------------------ 1.I thought the name Raze is cool for a blood-sucking guardian since it means to level to the ground, demolish, destroy, devastate, etc. I know it may seem like an odd name, I just liked the sound of it and meaning of it :) 2.I don't like the steaming turds..they are gross..get rid of em :P plus you cant sac em which is annoying :) I'll think more about the other questions Xena @>---------------------------[Blondie]-------------------------- 1> Okie, the guardian in Calathar. *ponder*.. How about Bob? It's universal. It's fun. *laugh* No really, all kidding aside. Maybe you could call him the "Lawgiver".. His long description could be something like.. "The Lawgiver of Calathar stands here, awaiting his next victim." 2> Steaming turds. *ponder* Yeah, get rid of them. They're pretty raunchy :) Or maybe give them some flair. Different colors. *laugh* "The bright pink steaming turds of whoever are here." 3> A dream channel. That could have pretty cool possibilites. Maybe a dreamtell for people that are sleeping they could converse with other people that are sleeping, without having to wake up. A dreamchat channel, where other sleeping people can chat with each other without having to disturb the other players. There are alot of things that could be done with it. Maybe to shorten it up. "dchat" and "dtell" and "dreply".. etc. 4> A new idea for BR. Well, it's not all that new. But, I would still REALLY love to see the vampires go in. I was very excited about that and was kinda disappointed when they didn't go in as planned. But, that's just me. I really can't think of something that BR doesn't already have thats original. There are so many things already :) Just keep up the good work :) ------ Blondie @>----------------------------[Arawn]--------------------------- name for guardian of Calathar : Asmadi steaming turds : are they really hurting anybody? leave em is my vote. dream channel : would cost mana and you would appear as an apparition to a sleeping person new idea : a 'scrambled eggs' ability that allows you to take a dinosour egg and a spatula and make food. could add cheese if you wanted. :) -Arawn --------- @>---------------------------[Tomas]-------------------------------- 1) name him Sturm 2) i like steaming turds 3) dream channel--like chat for sleepers...though not for drunks! i sleep like a rock when i'm wasted. 4) new idea...allow heros to use bamfin and bamfout messages for teleport. i find these messages fun, but almost never get to use goto command. tomas @>---------------------------[Who sent me this?]------------------ 1. What would you like to name the guardian of Calathar? Goliath (from that wierd cartoon) 2. Would you like to get rid of steaming turds? Keep them....They are funny 3. How would a dream channel work? When you sleep the dream channel shows you the dream you are having it could be a good dream or a bad dream, you can also wake up from loud noises in the room. 4. what do YOU suggest as a new idea for BR? make it so if you get a (WANTED) flag there should be a jail and a judge That predicts if you a guilty or innocent and if you are guilty you should be slayed by the judge. Of course one of the imms on the MUD would have to decide if he had a case or not and if the imm thought the person was guilty the imm would type in guilty and the person would go in the gillotine (or however you spell it) and if you were not guilty You would still have to spend a night in jail. 1.
